AVH Technologies offers innovative solutions to boost productivity and efficiency. One powerful feature within Zendesk is Custom Objects, which allows you to capture additional data related to tickets. However, there currently isn't an easy way to bring that data directly into ticket comments.

That's where the Custom Object Commentator Sidebar App comes in. This app lets you add data from a custom object lookup field (as well as related data from linked lookup objects) directly into Zendesk ticket comments. Whether as an internal or public comment, agents can seamlessly include this object-related data, which can then be shared via notifications or side conversations.

At present, the app supports a single lookup relationship field, which links to one of the Custom Objects you've created. When installing the app, you'll capture the custom field ID and object key in the settings for easy integration.

Please note, the app relies on Zendesk's Custom Objects feature, so your account must have this feature enabled. While Custom Objects are available on all Zendesk Suite plans, some limitations may apply based on your plan.

You need access to the new Zendesk Custom Objects as this is where all the data is stored and this application will not work without it. All Zendesk Suite plans have access to Custom Objects but there are limitations based on the plan used. Please refer to this Zendesk product pagefor more information.

Installation steps:

  • Enable Custom Objects.

  • Create all required objects. At the moment this app functionality only allows for one lookup relationship object field to be used as the object record source. Other objects can be used as related lookup fields linked to the primary object.

  • Create a custom lookup relationship ticket field linked to the primary object.

  • Install the application. Capture the custom field ID and linked object key in the relevant fields.
